Remaining carbon budget
Global Warming of 1.5 ºC, Glossary, published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 2018, defines the remaining carbon budget as the: ‘Estimated cumulative net global anthropogenic CO2 emissions from the start of 2018 to the time that anthropogenic CO2 emissions reach net zero that would result, at some probability, in limiting global warming to a given level, accounting for the impact of other anthropogenic emissions.’
